Beaches
Crete is famous for its clean and beautiful beaches. We can guide you around the island and give you some information, but it is more fun if you explore the island yourselves and discover some of the many hidden and isolated beaches of Crete.
1.Malia : several sandy beaches with water sports available, "tropical" beach and "the island", being the most famous, both of which are long sandy beaches.
2.Vai: the palm beach of Crete, sandy beach, shallow waters, tropical scenery in East Crete, Sitia
3.Palekastro : 2 sandy beaches a few kilometres away from the village, 19km away from Sitia
4.Makri Gialos : long sandy beach with crystal clear waters, many restaurants
5.Ierapetra : coarse sandy beaches near the town, many beautiful beaches can be found on the west and east of Ierapetra
6.Chrissi : a small island opposite Ierapetra, with beaches of white sand
7.Matala : shingle beach, crystal clear waters
8.Komos : a long, quiet, white sandy beach with a few facilities and restaurants
9.Preveli : access only on foot, a palm forest with waterfalls just before the small river meets the see, amazing tropical scenery on the south coast of Rethymno
10.Plakias : coarse sandy beach 2km long with good facilities on the south coast of Rethymno
11.Frangokastello : ideal for children and those who can't swim, shallow turquoise waters on the southwest of Crete
12.Loutro : several pebble beaches can be found around the area with access by boat or on foot
13.Agia Roumeli : a shingle beach right at the end of the Samaria gorge
14.Sougia : beautiful wide pebble beach with no facilities
15.Paleochora : one big sandy beach on the west and a pebble one on the east, both very picturesque
16.Elafonissi : tropical scenery, shallow turquoise waters and white-red sand because of the thousands of broken shells, one of the most beautiful in Crete, but can be a bit overcrowded
17.Falassarna : long, white sandy beach, crystal clear turquoise waters
18.Platanias : sandy beaches that stretch for many kilometres in both directions of the town
19.Georgioupolis : many long sandy beaches on the east of the village
20.Rethymno : a long sandy beach directly by the town and many more towards the east
21.Bali : small bays with sandy beaches around the village
22.Agia Pelagia : long and narrow sandy beach, very popular to the locals
23.Ammoudara : on the west of Heraklion, long sandy beach, popular to locals.
24.Kokkini Hani : sandy beach, with several small bays, quiet resort
25.Gouves : several small bays with shingle and sandy beaches, water sports available
26.Hersonissos : a small overcrowded sandy beach
27.Stalis : long sandy organized beach, water sports available
