Climate
Crete's climate is probably the mildest and healthiest in Europe. It has been classified as temperate, Mediterranean climate. Summers are dry and hot and rainfall is limited to the winter months, with January and February being the coldest. Snowfall is usual but only in the high mountains. Autumn is Crete's mildest season and it is usually hotter than spring.
The only dramatic change that can happen, mostly during the summer, is the gale south wind that comes from Africa, the Sirocco, which can raise the temperature from one minute to the other.
The best time to visit Crete is from April to June and from September until October, when the temperature is pleasant without being too hot like in July and August.
