Bramiana Lake
The artificial lake of Bramiana is located 5km northwest of Ierapetra. The water is supplied mainly from several springs around the area, as well as from the Krygios river and the springs of the Korakas gorge.
Located in the middle of an arid area, the Bramiana lake has become an important wetland and a stopping point for migratory birds. Today, it attracts the largest population of waterfowl in Crete and therefore it has been characterized as a national park. The vegetation around the lake is teeming with reeds, plane trees, pines, poplars and tamarisks.
